As the only locally owned and operated river rafting company in Vernal, Utah, Dinosaur River Expeditions offers thrilling whitewater adventures on nearby Utah and Colorado Rivers. With deep roots in its community, the company is known for participating in local charitable events. This Christmas, they are supporting initiatives that provide gifts to underserved children and seniors.
Dinosaur River Expeditions is based in northeastern Utah near Dinosaur National Monument, which has one of the country’s most impressive collections of dinosaur fossils. The company’s experienced rafting guides, many of whom were born and raised in the area, take guests on chartered river trips on the picturesque Yampa and Green Rivers.
The company’s owner, Tyler Callantine, has had three generations of family living in Vernal, which he said has given him a lot of heart for the community.
“We don’t just work here, we love and care about this place,” said Callantine. “When we started this company, we committed to do more than just run the business here. We wanted to expand our reach and fill needs in the area as often as possible.”
This Christmas, the company has been supporting the Salvation Army Angel Tree program organized by Vernal’s Rotary Club. The program provides Christmas presents and clothing for children in need. They are also supporting a local program known as Sub for Seniors that provides lap blankets, games, gift certificates, and food for underserved senior citizens.
Callantine said that his commitment to all things local extends from community giving to the perspective he provides to customers on his family river rafting trips.
“We’ve seen big national chains come in and set up rafting outfits, but we think our clients get an enhanced experience when they raft with us,” said Callantine. “A lot of our staff members, including myself, grew up hiking and camping this area, traveling its rivers, and spending time with its people. That helps us offer an insider’s view.”
Dinosaur River Expeditions helped develop a high school outreach program to get more teenagers on the river and organized or sponsored numerous events — including the John Powell Anniversary Festival, DinoSaur days, and Paddlefest. They have also helped with numerous holiday events, including serving free Thanksgiving dinners to people in need and providing a tree for the Vernal Christmas Trees for Charity event.
Dinosaur River Expeditions offers a wide variety of rafting trips, ranging from one day to five days. The trips are all-inclusive, providing delicious meals, all necessary rafting equipment, transportation to and from pick-up points, and more.
