The Secret Ingredient Missing from Your Recipe for Stronger Sales

New York, NY (PRUnderground) September 18th, 2017

The new digital design magazine, DesignRush, that serves as a showcase for the best of contemporary, cutting-edge design elements, revealed today that the color scheme used on an e-commerce site’s checkout page can have a significant impact on sales. Citing that a staggering  85% of interviewees name color to be the primary reason when buying a particular product, DesignRush editors went on to stress the importance of color usage on the checkout page.

“There’s a whole science behind the psychology of color and using the right palette can make a big difference to sales,” says DesignRush founder, Gabriel Shaoolian. “Color is a powerful design tool, and one of the places it has the most impact is on a site’s Call To Action (CTA) elements, like the checkout page. This is where you definitely want to use red and other warm colors.”

DesignRush claims that studies bear this theory out, indicating that the color red can increases sales conversions on websites by 34%. Used strategically, an accent color, and inspire your audience to engage with your content.  DesignRush revealed the effect top colors have on consumer behavior:

  • Yellow is used mainly to draw attention due to its optimistic and youthful feel.
  • Red is a very energetic color that is used to create urgency, and that we frequently see in clearance sales. In fact, nearly 59% of retailers have red in their logo.
  • Blue is a color that gives a certain feeling of trust and is often associated with more serious institutions, such as banks or other financial services.
  • Green is, in most cases, associated with wealth, and is used as a relaxing color because the eye has a much easier time processing it.

“You do have to keep one thing in mind,” warns Shaoolian. “Many factors, not the least of which being the cultural background of your audience, can affect a customer’s reaction to color. I suggest conducting an A/B test to determine which colors influence your audience’s purchasing behavior.”
