In the summer of 1977, the man known by his millions of fans as “The King” passed away at his Tennessee home. A decade later, purported sightings of the same man began appearing in newspapers around the world. Witnesses reported spotting him at airports, theaters and diners, some even recounting conversations with the long thought departed superstar. The King and Me: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy imagines one such encounter. It’s the story of a young man who encounters a mysterious loner living deep in the Adirondack Mountains. Coming to believe the man is indeed the former “Memphis Flash”, he convinces him to mount a comeback. Soon the unlikely duo set out on a spiritual road trip of sorts, a journey across America to the Capital of the once and future king’s realm, the city of Las Vegas.

About Joe Badalamente:
Born and raised in New York City, Joe Badalamente served 20 years with the NYPD, and earned a BA in Cultural Studies from SUNY Empire State College. His short story Partner, which depicts the tribulations of a K9 team at the World Trade Center on 9/11, won the AKC Gazette magazine’s 24th Annual Fiction Contest, as well as the Dog Writers Association of America’s Best Short Fiction award. After retiring from the NYPD, he worked as a financial crimes investigator for numerous multinational financial institutions. He has also worked as a professional actor, standup comic and voiceover artist, as well as having co-hosted a weekly, food-themed, radio program on WLIB. After studying acting and improvisation at Michael Howard Studios, HB Studios and Chicago City Limits, he was awarded a scholarship to study the Meisner Technique with JoAnna Beckson at her studios in Manhattan. Joe’s standup has been seen at Dangerfield’s, the Comic Strip, Caroline’s and Gotham in NYC, as well as venues around the U.S., and he has appeared in commercials for Optimum and the SNY Network. He wrote and performed a one man show at the St. Luke’s Theatre, which details his experiences as a cop assigned to the Central Park Precinct. In addition, he co-starred with Mel Hancock in A Clean Shoot, written and directed by the late Joe Lima, in the Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival.
