Damon Harrison Gives Back to Louisiana Hometown to Help Flood Victims

After watching and hearing about the flooding that damaged his hometown, Damon Harrison decided that he needed to contribute to help the many members of his community that experienced severe losses.  Joined by Tyrunn Walker of the Detroit Lions, both New Iberia, Louisiana natives, Damon started an initiative to support the youth of New Iberia which is a part of the Baton Rouge region that was devastated by the flood in mid-August.

As students headed back to school for the start of the new year, they found that they no longer had the means to obtain their school uniforms, thanks to the extensive flood damage.  That is where Harrison and Walker stepped in and teamed up on an initiative to get students in the affected area new uniforms. The schools that received help include, Park Elementary School, Johnston-Hopkins Elementary and Anderson Middle School.

Generous contributions came in from Kalkow Brothers and Fishman & Tobin Manufacturing, consisting of 3,900 pieces of clothing that included shirts, pants, shorts, and jackets that will all be distributed among these students. Millennium Sports Management Group, with the help of Select Sports Management, led the charge to make sure that all contributed items arrived in New Iberia and were disbursed to the children who live or attend school in affected areas.

For any clothing needs that are not met through these contributions, Harrison and Walker purchased additional uniforms, in order to ensure that every child has a new uniform for the start of this school year.
