Peter Hunt has worked in senior management positions in the travel industry for nearly 30 years and decided to combine his knowledge of the holiday cottage market with his passion for walking.
‘I love fell walking, especially in the Lake District and Pennines, and it seemed a natural fit to create a website offering cottages ideally suited for walkers.’
With every holiday home description there are suggested local walks with information on many of them including the best routes and what to see on the walk.
‘If you’re planning to undertake one or more of the classic walks, or follow in Wainwright’s footsteps, we can help you find your ideal cottage,’ says Hunt. ‘Or, if you’re looking for somewhere new to discover, we have come up with some hidden gems – of both walks and holiday cottages.’
Cumbria Cottages are working in partnership with some of the leading holiday cottage agencies, both local and national, to select the best properties. Nearly 200 are already on the site, with more to be added.
‘We will continue to widen our selection of cottages, as long as they are ideally suited for walkers. Soon we will be looking for properties with other users of the countryside in mind including mountain bikers and water sport enthusiasts.’
