Comedian Michael Connell has released the world’s first stand-up comedy album about the new digital currency Bitcoin.

Titled ‘Bitcomedy 1.0’, the album is on sale for 0.01BTC (roughly $5) through Connell’s website.

The short CD features routines on Bitcoin, economics, and internet freedom along with bonus material from  some of his previous releases.

Decentralized cyrptocurrency is a rather unusual topic for a comedian, and Connell claims his biggest challenge in writing the routine was that most comedy club audiences don’t know what Bitcoin is.

However, after performing his Bitcoin material on Australian TV show Live on Bowen, the great response inspired him to release Bitcomedy 1.0.

To promote Bitcomedy 1.0 Connell released a performance of his Bitcoin stand-up routine on youtube. The clips has now been seen by thousands, picked up by the Max Keiser’s blog, and even received a thumbs up from Bitcoin Jesus himself, Roger Ver.

Following the great success this first album has achieved, Connell hopes to release a longer recording, a Bitcomedy 2.0, sometime next year.

Connell claims that selling his album by bitcoin from his website has been a lot easier than working with more traditional retailers such as iTunes, and hopes other comedians will follow his example.
