The Cingari Family ShopRite legacy is built on a long family tradition with deep roots in Connecticut.
Salvatore Cingari started the grocery business more than 80 years ago by selling groceries and fresh produce from a converted school bus after he lost his job during the Depression. The family went on to open Grade A Market before joining the retailer-owned supermarket cooperative Wakefern Food Corp. in 1991 and opening ShopRite stores. Today the Cingaris represent a fourth-generation, family-run business employing more than 2,200 associates across stores in Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven counties. Cingari Family ShopRite is dedicated to supporting the communities where its stores operate and offering the kind of customer service and personal touch only a neighbor can provide.
