Startup company Campus Pursuit, which connects students with consumer brands through daily interactive scavenger hunts on college campuses, is using a music video recruiting tool – created by musician/videographer Jeremy Katz – to encourage students to apply for their brand ambassador internship program.  The ambassadors organize and lead Campus Pursuit scavenger hunts at major schools across the country.

“The promotional and recruiting videos that I create for corporate clients combine my productions of hit pop songs along with custom lyrics that are written and lip synced by the company’s team members,” says Katz, who’s a 2014 graduate of Yeshiva University (BA in Music).  “They’re effective and very creative vehicles for delivering a company’s intended message.”

To create the video, Campus Pursuit’s current brand ambassadors on campuses from across the United States wrote the lyrics to a parody of One Direction’s top ten international pop hit “Perfect”.  Using these lyrics, Katz performed and recorded a soundtrack for the new production, and gave the ambassadors instructions on how to record their own lip sync videos of the song.  He then edited his audio with the ambassadors’ individual lip sync videos, and the resulting clip – which is prominently featured on the Campus Pursuit website – is now an integral component of the company’s recruiting efforts for ambassadors at new campuses where the company will soon be operating.

“I was impressed by Jeremy’s ability to publish our video within such a short time frame,” says Shachar Avraham, co-founder of Campus Pursuit, whose clients include PepsiCo, NBCUniversal, NFL SUNDAY TICKET, Kettle Brand Chips, and others.  “From the initial music recordings, to the outtakes, to the editing, he made every effort to produce a final product that we were beyond satisfied with.  It’s almost shocking that he’s a one-man operation.”

Katz is an experienced producer of music and videos:  his YouTube performances of hits by such artists as Drake, The Beatles, The Weeknd, Queen, Bruno Mars, The Four Seasons, Maroon 5, Andy Grammer, and Jason Derulo have recently been picked up for airing in the U.S., Caribbean, and South America on the Gone Viral cable channel.  His videos have also been tapped for inclusion on Cover Nation’s YouTube stream, which features “top covers from the best YouTube singers”.  Katz develops, films, and edits each of his videos and performs all of the vocal and musical parts.  His corporate production experience will be featured in the May ‘16 issue of Workforce magazine, a leading trade publication for human resources professionals.

“All participants in these corporate video projects really enjoy being in the spotlight,” says Katz.  “They have a great time singing, dancing, and performing in front of the camera.  Campus Pursuit is successfully leveraging this positive energy by showing prospective brand ambassadors how much fun it is to be involved with, and represent, the company.”
