Boothill Inn & Suites is now a Certified Autism Center (CAC), a designation awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to organizations who complete training and certification to better understand and welcome autistic guests or those with sensory sensitivities.

Boothill Inn & Suites is the first location to follow Visit Billing’s initiative to achieve the designation of Certified Autism Destination (CAD), which means that visitors can choose from a variety of trained and certified lodging, recreation, and entertainment options in the area.

“I have a personal understanding of the challenges related to traveling with a family member with special needs. In addition, several of our employees at the hotel have similar experiences. We are pleased to be the first hotel in Montana and the entire Northwest Region to earn the certification of Certified Autism Center. To create a safe space and a welcoming environment for these families is a priority for all of us as we believe that enjoyable and convenient travel should be available to everyone,” said James Bennett owner of Boothill Inn & Suites “There is so much to see and explore in this beautiful city and state. The owners, management, and staff of the Boothill Inn are committed to ongoing education to ensure that the joys of travel are open to everyone.”

For more than 20 years, IBCCES has been the leader in cognitive disorder training and certification for healthcare, education, and corporate professionals around the globe. IBCCES created programs specifically for the hospitality and recreational organizations such as hotels, theme parks, and other attractions so staff would be more knowledgeable and other accommodations offered to this growing, but underserved, part of the community. IBCCES is the only credentialing board offering these types of programs, which include training from subject matter experts and autistic self-advocates, as well as long-term support and continuous learning, onsite reviews, and more.

“IBCCES is excited to work with the first of many hospitality organizations in Billings. Our partnership with Boothill Inn & Suites and Visit Billings is a big step towards making Billings more accessible to all visitors while ensuring that they can have a fantastic experience,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman.

IBCCES also created AutismTravel.com, a free online resource for parents that lists certified destinations and connects families to other resources and each other. Each destination listed on the site has met the Certified Autism Center (CAC) requirements.
