With the film series starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint recently coming to an end, the play carries on the popularity of the Harry Potter phenomenon for fans everywhere.

The play was first seen in 2006 and has already had a great deal of success with sell-out runs at multiple Edinburgh festivals and West End seasons. Various projects spinning off from this idea include ‘Potted Pirates’ and ‘Potted Panto’, which was nominated for the acclaimed Best Entertainment Olivier Award this year. Opening night for this limited run at the Garrick Theatre is 18th August and it runs until 29th August before continuing on the ‘Potted Potter’ tour.

The play itself compacts all seven of J.K. Rowling’s books, which would take days to read, into seventy minutes of entertainment, including multiple costume changes, songs and props. A game of ‘quidditch’ involving the audience is also a highlight of the show, so all in all it sounds like a very intense and action-packed seventy minutes. With some of literature’s best known characters like Dumbledore, Hermione and Harry himself, it makes an entertaining parody for fans of the series and a unique introduction for those new to the magical world.
