When hoisting in a bariatric setting careful consideration must be given to ensure the right equipment with a suitable lifting capacity is being used by staff who have received the necessary training.

The Victor Mobile Hoist is the fastest mobile bariatric hoist on the market. With a maximum lifting capacity of 225kg and a battery capable of up to 160 lifts it is ideal for most domestic, hospital and care home settings. The Victor is a very versatile hoist and can be used with a body support system, conventional spreader bar, or electronically operated spreader bar. Safety features include a built-in motor and emergency down to ensure the patient will not be left in a hoisting position should there be a power failure.
The Maxi Sky 600 (272kg lifting capacity) and Maxi Sky 1000 (455kg lifting capacity) ceiling hoists are ideal for settings where a mobile hoist is not suitable. The 600 offers a very cost effective entry level solution and as with the 1000 only one carer is needed to perform the transfer of bariatric patients using the supplied hand control therefore eliminating any manual lifting.
If a higher lifting capacity is required, the 1000 is perfect as it is one of the most powerful hoists currently available and as with most ceiling hoists can be installed using ceiling mounted straight tracks or a semi-permanent gantry system. The gantry can be required if the structure of the property is not suitable for the installation of a tracked system, this is more common in domestic properties.
