Banner Fort Collins Medical Center Nurse Named July Colorado Health Care Star

American Sentinel University and the Colorado Hospital Association (CHA) named Lori Sterbenk, RN, Senior Manager at Banner Fort Collins Medical Center as the July Colorado Health Care Stars Award winner. This award recognizes Sterbenk as an exceptional health care professional.

Colorado Health Care Stars is a statewide health care professional award recognition program sponsored by American Sentinel University and CHA. The program was launched in February 2015 to acknowledge clinical professionals in Colorado who exceed expectations in the delivery of health care.

In addition to serving as the senior manager at Banner Fort Collins Medical Center, Sterbenk has played a key role in opening its perioperative departments and ensuring compliance with the medical center’s regulatory agencies.

“Lori has been instrumental in not only opening the facility’s perioperative departments but also in ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and quality outcomes of our patients,” says Roberta Bean, the Associate Chief Nursing Officer at Banner Fort Collins Medical Center.

Bean says that Sterbenk ensures great experiences for not only the medical center’s patients and their families, but for their physician partners and employees.

“She pays great attention to detail and regularly reaches out to physicians and their offices to touch base and ensure operations and relationships are smooth. Lori is a real health care star with our facility, organization, and the nursing profession,” she adds.

The nursing practice has a significant impact on health care delivery, patient safety, and patient outcomes,” says Chris Wolfe, Director of Program Strategy and Alliances at American Sentinel University.  “Nurse leaders like Lori Sterbenk will continue to play a vital role in the movement to promote safe care.
