Designer Julie Gallegos has launched The WhatchyaGot Bag after various family members were diagnosed with cancer. A few years ago, Julie’s son and father were diagnosed with cancer. During this time, her mother, step-mother and sister also passed away. Inspired, Ms. Gallegos noticed a need for quality travel bags with multi-compartments to serve a medical purpose. The WhatchyaGot Bag is designed to make traveling with medication and medical supplies comfortable.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) permits medications, medical equipment and liquids serving a medical purpose on all flights. However, according to the special need’s section of the agency’s website https://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/specialneeds/editorial_1059.shtm), medication and medical equipment is still subject to inspection. Julie Gallegos’ bag designs are intended to make this process quick and easy for both the traveling patient and TSA inspector.

The WhatchyaGot Bags are compact, stylish and offer privacy of personal and medical related items. All bags have a ten multi-loop compartment designed to hold various pill bottles. In addition, each bag has four expansive pockets and one additional insulated pocket. The insulated pocket holds a cold/hot pack to accommodate temperature sensitive medications, snacks, liquids and gels.

The WhatchyaGot Bag assists people with medical issues to not only travel hassle free, but the bag can help prevent medication mix-ups. “My father would try to put all of his medication in one pill bottle. This was dangerous because some of the pills looked alike.” Gallegos said. “I created The WhatchyaGot Bags specifically to organize medication and supplies in a safe manner regardless if someone is traveling three thousand miles or just going to the grocery store.”

All of Julie’s bags have three zipper closures instead of hard to open buttons. All the bags come with handles and a padded strap. Each bag has mesh pockets and satin lining for easy cleaning. The WhatchyaGot Bags range from conservative business attire to fun and attractive designs. Each bag sells for $59.97 and are only sold on the company’s website.

In the short time  The WhatchyaGot bags have been available, WhatchyaGot Inc.’s  popularity has managed to grow by word of mouth. The parent community caught on to Julie’s medical bag design and started using the ten multi-loop compartments for bottles.  The bags’ organizational characteristics, which can be used for travel size lotions, vitamins, etc., also created a demand by frequent travelers. As a result, the company started to gain local press and obtained a feature in The Chicago Tribune.
