Award-Winning Chef at 99 Sea Level Brings Artistically-Inspired Visual Elements to New Menu Items

Chef Danio Somoza, the head chef at 99 Sea Level (Bethany Beach, DE), has added 24 new artistic and eye-pleasing items to his seasonally inspired lunch and dinner menus.

Chef Danio Somoza, the head chef at 99 Sea Level in Bethany Beach, DE, has added 24 new items to his seasonally inspired lunch and dinner menus. Each of the additions offers an eye-pleasing, color balanced, and painterly dining experience for the restaurant’s guests.
“By incorporating local and regional ingredients into our dishes that are at their peak of freshness during the warm weather months, I’m able to share selections that are both well-presented and delicious,” says Somoza, who was recently honored as the Top Chef of the Culinary Coast, an annual competition in the Delmarva (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia) region. “These artistic new menu items are appreciated by our guests, who have tagged us their photos of what they’ve ordered on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.”
Somoza’s new offerings at 99 Sea Level – which is located in Bethany Beach Ocean Suites – include fresh selections of seafood, meats, salads, soups, sandwiches, and pasta. According to Ellen Rice, an award-winning painter and owner of the Ellen Rice Gallery in Bethany Beach, the chef was paying close attention to the visuals for each of his creations.
“The highly creative and avant-garde look of Chef Somoza’s dishes prove that he understands that we taste with our eyes before we taste with our taste buds,” says Rice. “A great example of his approach is the lighthearted, carefree approach of the Maine Portland Live Lobster, which is reminiscent of the colorful lobster art of contemporary artist Sharon Cummings. Overall, Somoza has achieved a gallery-like tour with his new dishes that should be appreciated and enjoyed visually before they’re eaten.”
