Antioch University (Antioch) and UC San Diego Extension (UCSD) have expanded the pathways for students to earn a Graduate Management Degree. Students who complete UCSD Extension’s certificates in Brewing, Digital Marketing, Fundraising and DevelopmentHealthcare Financial Analysis, Healthcare Revenue Cycle, Human Resource Management, and Sustainable Business Practices can transfer certificate credits seamlessly into Antioch’s online Master of Business Administration (MBA) without duplication of coursework, saving time and money to complete their graduate degree. Students in UCSD certificates in Fundraising and Development and Human Resource Management can also transfer into Antioch’s online Master of Human Services Administration and  Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management.

“At Extension, we pride ourselves in our ability to build bridges to the workforce and connect students to quality education and professional development opportunities,” said Dr. Laura Fandino, Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs at UC San Diego Extension. “The expanded partnership with Antioch University will help students move seamlessly into graduate programs and will move them towards their future careers as leaders in Sustainability, Healthcare, and Nonprofit management.”

“Antioch’s mission is to empower students with the knowledge and skills to lead meaningful lives and to advance social, economic, and environmental justice,” said Terry Ratcliff, Antioch University Provost for Distance and Extended Education. “This connects powerfully with the need to build and lead organizations that enrich people, support the planet, and drive prosperous, sustainable economies globally.”

Antioch’s MBA features the mutual importance of people, planet, and profit in building and leading successful organizations and communities in the 21st century often referred to as the triple bottom line approach. The MBA offers five concentrations, including Healthcare Leadership, Leadership and Teams, Nonprofit Leadership, Self-Designed, and Sustainable Business. The MBA can be completed in two years, but UCSD Extension students can complete the program in as soon as 18 months. Most students work full-time while going to school.

“The partnership provides a great opportunity and pathway for UCSD Extension students to further their education and achieve a related master’s degree in a program where sustainability and social justice are a central focus,” said Dr. Mary Ann Short, Director of Antioch’s Graduate Management Programs.

To be eligible, students must have been in good academic standing during their last term with UC San Diego Extension, and all certificate course credits must be successfully completed. The program articulation agreement began July 2021.
