American Sentinel University and Colorado Hospital Association named Jennifer Biltoft, PharmD, BCPS, Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at SCL Health, as a Colorado Health Care Star Award winner. This award recognizes Biltoft as an exceptional health care professional.
Colorado Health Care Stars is a statewide health care professional award recognition program sponsored by American Sentinel University and Colorado Hospital Association. The program was launched in February 2015 to acknowledge industry professionals in Colorado who exceed expectations in the delivery of health care.
Biltoft led the system Opioid Task Force and has been at the forefront of the opioid epidemic for communities in Colorado. She has led many initiatives for EMR changes to help with safe and effective opioid prescribing and harm reduction strategies. Notably, Dr. Biltoft was a champion of early adoption of electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS). She has also advanced SCL Health’s safety and quality through her work as a pioneer to implement smart pump-EMR interoperability.
“Jen is passionate about an evidence-based model of patient care. In her role, she seeks to improve the quality of patient care by partnering with both clinical and IT leadership for safe and effective outcomes,” said Leigh Scherer, Pharmacy Technician on the Epic Willow team at SCL Health. “I have had the privilege of working with Jen for almost a decade and see her dedication, hard work, and effectiveness not only within our organization, but throughout our community. Her collaborative efforts across the practice of pharmacy and accomplishments have secured her spot as a well-respected member in the leadership of our organization.”
“Jennifer is a great example of taking her role beyond her health system and utilizing her expertise to make a positive impact on the opioid crisis,” said Michael Rickart, Vice President of Partner Engagement for American Sentinel University. “We’re happy that our partnership with the Colorado Hospital Association allows us to honor her achievements and name her a Colorado Health Star.”
