Eric Lincoln, an expert on structural timber products and treated wood for over 20 years will present an exhibit at the Association of Zoos & Aquarium’s conference in Columbia, S.C., March 24 and 25.

Lincoln will showcase American Pole and Timber’s exclusive product, Gun Barrel Pilings. These round pilings are unique in that they are uniform in diameter, as opposed to regular round wood pilings that taper. Gun Barrel Pilings are superior in aesthetics and strength, making them a first choice for zoos.

Notable structures that showcase the quality of Gun Barrel Pilings include: the Erie Zoo (tiger exhibit), the Oklahoma City Zoo (elephant exhibit), and the Columbus Zoo, though A.P.&T. has exhibits using their exclusive Gun Barrel Pilings in over 25 zoos, nationwide.

Gun Barrel Pilings are most often made from Southern Yellow Pine, which is an extremely renewable resource. All American Pole and Timber products are available FSC and SFI certified. Eric will be available, during the conference, for consultation related to structural timber products for zoo and park projects.
