ACAOM, which is based in Houston, is among a handful of regionally accredited schools that provide acupuncture training. The school is a partner to eight sister schools located in Taiwan and China. In addition, ACAOM collaborates with the Houston Methodist Hospital Healthcare System to integrate Western and Eastern medicine. The school’s goal is to offer solid training in natural health and holistic medicine.
Master of Integrative Healthcare Leadership
ACAOM’s Master of Integrative Healthcare Leadership program specifically focuses on training students to become wellness directors/managers so that they are equipped to maintain or design wellness programs for wellness centers, hospitals, and companies. A growing number of companies are instituting employee wellness programs with the goal of decreasing their health insurance costs.
The 36-credit master’s degree program can be completed in one year. However, students who already have Oriental medicine backgrounds can transfer their credits, thus saving them some time in the program. All of the program’s courses are online.
In the fall of 2019, tuition for the program is $432 for each credit. Therefore, the program’s total tuition is around $15,552. Both payment plans and financial aid through the federal government are available for the program’s students.
About ACAOM
ACAOM was founded in 1991 and enrolled its first student class the following year. In addition to offering the Master of Integrative Healthcare Leadership program, ACAOM offers a Master of Integrative Wellness Management program. The school additionally has a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine program along with a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program.
ACAOM in 2014 had the privilege of hosting the World Federation of Acupuncture & Moxibustion Societies. This event attracted more than 900 participants who hailed from more than 36 nations and presented more than 200 abstracts. Some of the key guests included Dr. Boli Zhang, Dr. Andrew Weil, and Annise Parker, the mayor of Houston.
