Alexander Haas, a fundraising firm with headquarters in Atlanta, Ga, is pleased to announce its three-year agreement to become presenting sponsor the relaunch of the Be Haas Award, a Veteran in the Profession award presented to a standout fundraising professional, in cooperation with the Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
The Be Haas honor will be awarded to an individual who exemplifies the legacy of Be Haas — a passion for Greater Atlanta, dedication to the fundraising profession, and exemplary service to the community.
Beatrice “Be” Haas was a force in Atlanta, and a master at what she accomplished in the Atlanta philanthropic community. She almost singlehandedly changed the civic engagement in Atlanta throughout the mid-20th Century with her community leadership, political activism, and philanthropic charge. In 1954, Be helped to establish the first fundraising firm in Atlanta, Grizzard & Haas. Today, that firm lives on within Alexander Haas and we are so honored to carry on her legacy.
At one point in her 40-year career in fundraising, Be Haas was involved in 90 percent of the fundraising campaigns underway in Atlanta. For her efforts, in 1988, she became the 22nd recipient of the WSB Radio/Atlanta Gas Light Company’s “Shining Light” award for her service to humanity. She was twice honored as Woman of the Year in Atlanta and served on the Board of Directors for several businesses and nonprofit organizations. In November 1993, she received the first Lifetime Achievement Award ever given by the Georgia Chapter of NSFRE.
