Akademos, Inc. course materials platform has entered into an agreement with The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN, to expand St. Scholastica’s online bookstore operations. The new online bookstore will offer a multitude of benefits to St. Scholastica administration, faculty, and students, including advanced adoption and data analytics tools, a personalized shopping experience, and enhanced customer service tools and support.

“We are pleased to be working with The College of St. Scholastica and look forward to helping them support the exceptional academic achievement of their students,” said Raj Kaji, CEO, Akademos. “In our experience, more affordable and accessible textbooks and course materials drive bookstore utilization, which results in more prepared students and the overall success of an institution.”

St. Scholastica officials said they see the arrangement as a beneficial use of innovative technology.

“We believe that Akademos is the right partner to increase the availability of low-cost course materials for our students, no matter their location,” said Diane Vertin, St. Scholastica Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Starting fall 2019, St. Scholastica’s 4,000 students at locations around Minnesota can access a variety of format options – including new, used, rental, and eBook – through a St. Scholastica-branded website that conveniently integrates student courses, associated course materials, and multiple purchasing options with a single sign-on.

The online bookstore will also support St. Scholastica administration and faculty, who will benefit from a comprehensive Adoption & Analytics Portal. This platform offers a step-by-step guide for course material adoptions, recommendations, and adoption history, and the ability to compare real-time prices for course materials. The analytics tool will also enable leadership to track critical data, including student purchasing and bookstore utilization.
