Additive Manufacturing Conference 2015: Record Crowds Discuss the Future of Industrial 3D Printing
Industry: Manufacturing
More than 500 manufacturers, academics and researchers connected in Knoxville, TN, at the inaugural conference for industrial applications of additive manufacturing
Cincinnati, OH (PRUnderground) October 26th, 2015
Additive Manufacturing Conference (AMC) 2015 closed October 21st, 2015, in Knoxville, TN. The inaugural event featured more than 500 industrial professionals participating in technical sessions, professional networking and facility tours focused on 3D printing / additive manufacturing technologies.
Presented by Additive Manufacturing and Modern Machine Shop magazines, in partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and Local Motors, the two day technical conference included 25 expert speakers from global OEMs; leading additive manufacturing service bureaus; machinery suppliers; cutting-edge research outfits and product developers. In addition to technical insights on additive manufacturing technologies past and present, AMC speakers explored the future impact and potential applications of 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
The event also included an exhibition and networking room that hosted two gala receptions and featured more than 40 exhibitor displays. Exhibiting companies ranged from machinery and materials suppliers to contract manufacturers, and provided attendees a hands-on look at the equipment and services driving today’s industrial additive manufacturing production.
A unique AMC highlight was the opportunity to tour Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) and Local Motors’s Knoxville Microfactory. Participants were able to get an inside look at the innovative collaboration that produced the world’s first 3D-printed electric car and the replica Shelby Cobra that has been featured prominently in mainstream and trade media.
Presenter, Additive Manufacturing, opened and closed the event with exciting news about the future of its media brand. Publisher Travis Egan welcomed the 500 plus attendees by announcing the newly expanded, reformatted and redesigned Additive Manufacturing print and digital properties. Executive Director, Allison Miller, closed the event by announcing that Additive Manufacturing Conference 2016 would take place next September alongside the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2016 at Chicago, IL’s McCormick Place.
