Industry: Entertainment & Games
In Addition to REEL ROCK 11 Film Screenings, FEST Events Will Offer Climbing Competitions, Athlete Clinics, The North Face Speaker Series and More
Boulder, CO (PRUnderground) September 1st, 2016
Sender Films and Big UP Productions announced today that this year they have expanded five of their REEL ROCK Film Tour stops into action packed, weekend-long celebrations called FESTS. For the first time ever, FEST events will be held in New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver / Boulder and Washington DC. Each FEST city will host a number of activities to complement the already-popular outdoor adventure film screening. The REEL ROCK film tour, which has become the premiere social event for rock climbers and outdoor adventurers, travels to over 500 cities worldwide annually, reaching an audience of over 100,000.
The five REEL ROCK FEST events will offer:
REEL ROCK 11 Film Screenings, where audiences will be the first to see the top climbing and adventure films of the year. The line-up features: “Young Guns”, which introduces us to climbing’s next generation; “Brette” which profiles a daring female soloist; “Dodos Delight” which takes rock climbing to the high seas; “Boys in the Bugs” which explores the madness of crack climbing in Canada, and “Rad Dad” which showcases a new dad trying to balance his love of climbing with parenthood.
Athlete Clinics: where pro-climbers will lead a series of skills, fitness, nutrition and equipment clinics.
The North Face Speaker Series: a forum where athletes from the world class North Face climbing team will share their tales of adventure.
Access Fund Stewardship Project: Access Fund, athletes, local advocacy organizations and land managers will lead registrants on various stewardship projects at local crags to share their knowledge about how climbers can be good stewards and improve the lands they use. (Except in NYC)
Climbing Competition: Some of the world’s best climbers will captain teams of locals in a showdown to see who can rack up the most points.
Youth Matinee: A selection of REEL ROCK short films from over the last 10 years that are specially curated for ar younger audience will be screened.
In addition to these activities, FEST sites will have live music performances, food trucks, poster signings, gear giveaways and socializing/networking events.
“The REEL ROCK Film Tour has grown bigger and more popular every year,” says REEL ROCK co-founder Peter Mortimer. “As a group, we don’t get together very often, so it just made sense to expand the menu of available activities and blow this gathering out into a full weekend of fun. Now, REEL ROCK film fans will have a unique opportunity to compete, network, socialize and learn from fellow members of this incredible community.”
