Land Surveying Firm Landpoint Providing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Surveys For Various Types of Infrastructure Projects
Bossier City, LA (PRUnderground) April 26th, 2016
Award-winning land surveying company Landpoint, has expanded its fleet of drones to provide coverage for new infrastructure projects across the entire United States.
The company uses multiple sensors to create extremely accurate data sets that can be used by engineers, planners, environmentalists, and other parties associated with the projects. Additionally, the service company is one of the few to be granted permission by the FAA for commercial operations.
Landpoint’s UAV surveys are executed by a certified pilots and UAV operators with a drone fitted with a sensors that are capable of 1cm/pixel resolution. Because many of the processes associated with the companies UAV surveys has been automated by proprietary software, Landpoint is able to collect, analyze, and archive aerial data in a matter of hours. In some cases, the company is able to collect data from up to 400 acres per hour.
“Landpoint is very excited about the implementation of UAV surveys for infrastructure projects,” says Vice President, Chad Souter. “The use of drones to collect data will allow our company to deliver high-definition surveys quickly, and at an extremely affordable price. All of our clients will greatly benefit from the value added by this technology.”
After Landpoint’s operators design a flight plan, the UAV is launched and follows that course. The data is collected and the surveyors process and analyze the data before delivering it to the client, along with the imagery captured by the drone.
The data and imagery is collected through high definition 3D laser scanning (LiDAR) and photogrammetry device which is more accurate and more detailed than other methods, allowing engineers and surveyors to make more informed decisions and analysis with datasets they can trust.
For large infrastructure projects, such as new roads and bridges, the compact method of delivery and quick turnaround of UAV surveys means drastic cuts in cost. In fact, UAV surveys are completed at a fraction of the cost of traditional aerial and land surveying methods.
