Vermont Community Foundation grant utilized to build entrepreneurial offerings in the Rutland region
Castleton, Vermont (PRUnderground) May 29th, 2015
Castleton recently received a $20,000 grant from the Vermont Community Foundation’s Innovative and Collaborations grant program. The grant will help further the college’s mission of partnering with the Rutland Young Professionals and EVOLVE Rutland to transform the Rutland area by continuing to build levels of support, learning opportunities and connections for Rutland County.
The project seeks to create a self-sustaining program of training opportunities for both business and industry that is high quality, affordable, and convenient for both individuals and businesses. The project will also serve as a center repository of information concerning the offerings of other training providers in the Rutland region.
“A training cycle, which is self-informing concerning future training opportunities, will allow individuals to enter at different points depending upon what they and their employers need,” said Castleton Dean of Entrepreneurial Programs Lyle Jepson. “This cycle of training will support women, incumbent employees, aspiring entrepreneurs, and the businesses with whom they work.”
The Innovative and Collaboration grant program at the Community Foundation supports nonprofits to collaborate in issues and sectors to find new ways of working and develop common solutions to community needs.

About Castleton State College
For more than 225 years, Castleton has been helping students to realize their dreams through an educational approach that focuses on connecting with them as people inside and outside the classroom.
Over generations, the tools of our teaching have changed considerably, but the heart of what we do has remained constant. The relationships that our faculty builds with their students take a Castleton education far beyond the goal of merely imparting knowledge and preparing people for jobs. Our faculty are indeed experts in their respective fields, but they seek to produce graduates who will aspire to more than a successful career. In partnership with Castleton’s academic, student life, and athletic staff, they aim to graduate leaders who will make an impact for good on both their local community and the larger world. At Castleton, you will be challenged intellectually by an academic program that expects the best of your effort and energy. You will also become part of a close college community where people care about each other. According to President Dave Wolk, Castleton\\’s students can make a difference in the College before they go out to make a difference in the world.
