Introducing ForbesBark.com
ForbesBark.com is a community of responsible Pet Owners who provide crowd-sourcing, quid pro quo pet care services. Find a member of your community who will love and care for your pet when you are out of town, late from work or sick in bed; at no cost to you. ”Payment” for that help is simply a matter of paying it forward or returning the favor. A Pet Guardian will be there for you and your furry baby.
ForbesBark.com is a community of animal lovers who help each other out when the need arises or on an ongoing basis. With Forbesbark.com you have a fluid network of fellow animal lovers ready to lend a helping hand. It’s not about money, it’s about connecting and supporting one another in being the best pet guardians we can be. So if you like the idea of building a community and maintaining a happy furry family, then ForbesBark.com is meant for you. Beta Testing is now open for residents of Washington, D.C.!
Beta Testing in Washington, DC
Our goal in Beta Testing for residents of Washington, D.C. is to iron out all the bugs within the Beta Testing phase. We estimate this should take from three to a maximum of six months. After throughly analyzing what works and what doesn’t we are hoping to launch the system nationwide.
It is important to note that joining the community is free, but that there is an annual verification fee that Users will need to pay to ensure that the community pets remain safe from anyone that would harm them.
Functions of ForbesBark.com
As soon as you request an invite, create your profile and your pet profile(s) you will be able to post requests on the public wall. Users within a 6 mile radius from your zip code will be able to see your request and, based on your description, will be able to decide if they can accept your request or not. An important aspect of the community is that you must give as much as you receive and that means our system will block you if you keep requesting, but do not accept requests in return. We feel strongly about ForbesBark.com being a two-way street. So strong in fact that we dedicated an entire two months of our development time analysing the point system of each request. One point is equavalent to one request. So if you request for one day of boarding, your point will be -1. Conversely, if you accept 1 day of boarding, you point will be +1. The goal is to keep balance, to give as well as to receive and maintain your counter at 0.
If mathematics is not your strength, like me, don’t worry! Our system engineers have worked it out and you don’t even need to worry about the points. Just remember 0 is good. It means that you are giving as much as you are receiving.
Why should you join ForbesBark.com?
ForbesBark.com was created out of necessity in today’s economy. Not a lot of people can travel and afford to pay a reputable boarding facility and/or petsitter at the same time. Especially when you have more than two pets. We don’t want to give up on traveling since ”Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer” (– Susan Sontag). But at the same time it’s so hard to leave home not knowing if your furry babies will be fine. With ForbesBark.com you no longer have to make that choice. Or maybe you’re not a traveller, but would like to pick up some overtime and worry about your pup getting his walk? Or have an accident and in a cast for 6 weeks? How about new to a neighborhood and wanting to set up a doggie playdate and make new friends? Again, the ForbesBark community is there for you. The best part is that ForbesBark.com is a free service, however remember that there is an annual verification fee. This allows us to verify that each user is who they say they are and has no criminal history. ForbesBark is a safe community aiming to make the lives of pet owners a little easier. The new service is currently open to residents of Washington, D.C. for Beta Testing and in the coming months will be open to users nationwide.
