Ostrato's Fuji release unleashes breakthrough power in cloud management with the visibility, control and automation for cloud computing through a 'single-pane-of glass'

Sterling, VA (PRUnderground) July 7th, 2014

Ostrato, a provider of scalable and easy-to-use cloud management software, announced today a major advance in multi-cloud management.  The Fuji release of cloudSM includes new ground breaking features and functions, providing customers with an easy to use cloud management platform with the visibility, control and automation required to enable the power of cloud computing.

According to David Levinger, Senior Director of IT at Paxata, “With Ostrato, I have an innovative approach to cutting the administration time for managing all of our discreet cloud services, including purchasing, provisioning, adoption and usage policies from a single easy-to-use interface.  That means my agile company gets to move faster with cloud service adoption, without increasing overhead or risk.”

Ostrato’s customers need to continually improve the administration and governance of their multi-cloud environments, which drove the development of the following innovative features:

  • Service Catalog Management – the process of adding IaaS and PaaS cloud computing resources (CCR) to the master catalog has been streamlined for maximum efficiency.  Once a CCR is approved for the service catalog, the process of adding new cloud resources takes seconds.
  • Composite Services – cloudSM now includes the ability to build, order and provision the full infrastructure stack needed by enterprises to run the mission critical applications. Now, IT has the ability to display a stack of services as a single icon – with one click a user can deploy a full set of cloud services across multiple public and private cloud providers.
  • Cloud Automation – we built ‘icon-based’ integrations into Puppet, Chef and SaltStack to ensure our customers have a seamless, automated process for provisioning, configuring, and managing their hybrid IT environments. Users now have the option for the cloud automation agent to be deployed when ordering and provisioning cloud services through the cloudSM marketplace, and IT administrators have a point and click GUI to configure the integration.
  • Scheduled Parking – Ostrato’s first of its kind scheduling tool allows organizations to automatically stop, restart and “park and schedule” cloud instances based on time of day, week or month.  Instance parking for IaaS and PaaS cloud services during non-peak hours can reduce cloud spend by up to 73%.

“Fuji is a breakthrough release, which introduces significant new features and increased visibility,” said Jay Chapel, Ostrato’s CEO.  “We worked closely with our clients on the pre-release and they are all very impressed with the new features and capabilities.  We have managed to provide easier access to cloud services through our ‘unique single pane approach’, and at the same time have dramatically improved security and cost governance, and IT’s visibility for managing hybrid cloud infrastructure.”

Ostrato cloudSMTM is designed specifically for enterprises that want an integrated approach to governing and managing their heterogeneous cloud services, whether they are public, private or hybrid.  The platform provides features to ensure that the cloud is utilized to the best advantage across multiple groups and instances in terms of cost, performance, features, functionality and geographic location.
