Over 10 years ago today, brothers Andrew & Ryan Shapiro set out on a mission to find a way to deliver high-quality sunglasses and accessories in small batches at affordable prices. Through countless iterations and late nights operating out of their basement, the duo’s simple idea quickly turned into a fast-growing reality. Today, 10 years later, the brand is widely recognized as a leading producer of stylish, durable, and go-anywhere sunglasses that won’t break your bank.
The attention to detail and pursuit of excellence that is ingrained into the Tomahawk Shades brand has attracted a like-minded following and support from people across the globe. Many of these supporters are considered the best at what they do, such as two-time Super Bowl champion, Chris Hogan (a multi-sport talent in the NFL & Premier Lacrosse League), plus fellow Premier Lacrosse League legend Kyle Harrison. Tomahawk Shades is proud to partner with athletes and legends in their respective sports, people who know quality gear when they see it.
Now the brand is welcoming a couple more champions, two of the best of the best, to the Tomahawk Shades family. World Series champs and MLB veterans Jon Jay and Dan Descalso are coming aboard as investors in Tomahawk Shades.
“We are excited to bring Jon and Dan onto the team,” Andrew Shapiro, CEO and Co-Founder, said. “Not only have these guys done some amazing stuff on the field, but they’ve formed amazing connections off the field. We cannot wait to be a part of their world and grow this brand to new levels.”
Descalso and Jay, like their fellow pro stars supporting Tomahawk Shades, know a thing or two about climbing to the highest levels. Both played pivotal roles for the St. Louis Cardinals during the storied franchise’s famed 2011 World Series run, coming through with clutch hits and scoring big runs en route to greatness.
The partnership conversations were initiated by Tom Ottaiano & Joe Sanfilippo who also have ownership in Tomahawk Shades. “I met Jon back in 2017 when he was a member of the Chicago Cubs and I’ve stayed in touch with him ever since. After catching up with him earlier this year and learning a bit more about what he was up to, I knew right away Jon and Dan would be ideal additions to the Tomahawk team. I’m glad I was able to help bring great minds together and am excited about what these guys bring to the table!” said Managing Partner, Joe Sanfilippo.
It is no surprise that a brand like Tomahawk Shades (who some would consider the best in the industry) has attracted investors who are also considered the best in their field. The future is very bright for this brand…it’s quite fitting that they sell premium sunglasses!
