SRI Decks’ Custom Building Team Fights Hunger Through Colorado Charity

With pandemic restrictions lifting, the staff at a leading Denver custom deck installation company resumes volunteer efforts to help end food insecurity for families.

When they aren’t installing decks and gazebos, SRI Decks proudly gives back to surrounding Denver area communities. Sadly, in the past year, pandemic restrictions all but put a stop to these efforts and many other service opportunities. Now, with vaccination rates on the rise, SRI Decks is serving once again at a Denver-area charity that targets food insecurity.
Jeffco Eats is a non-profit organization that seeks to fill the weekend food gap for children in Jefferson County Title One Schools in Colorado so that no kid spends the weekend hungry. SRI Decks Owner, Joe Thede, is proud to be a part of this effort. “All SRI members participate. We are a large group, and they have plenty of work to keep us busy,” said Thede. “We pack food for the kids on welfare, food stamps, aided lunch, and so on.”
The employees at SRI Decks are no strangers to hard work. Building top quality, custom decks for customers across the Front Range is their specialty. “We like to volunteer four or five times a year, usually during the winter when we are slower,” remarked Thede. “For example, we volunteered at the WeeCycle, helping them paint the inside of the building and inventory everything. They do a great service getting baby gear into the hands of needy families. We were thrilled to help them hit the ground running.”
