300Magazine is pleased to share the amazing news that the Spanish artist Carlos García Lahoz has introduced two new art projects: “Kingdom of Heaven” and “Mudejar XXI.” “Kingdom of Heaven” is a series of abstract paintings created for Islamabad Art Festival 2020 in Pakistan, which was, unfortunately, postponed for the next year due to the COVID-19 and its devastating effects. “Mudejar XXI,” in its turn, is a series of sculptures dedicated to Aragonese Mudejar Art. Both art projects carry the idea of the harmonious coexistence between different cultures and religions.
Carlos García Lahoz was born in 1969 in Zaragoza, Spain. His artistic path began in 2009 when Carlos decided to leave his fish import and export business after 20 years of hard work, exhausted by stress and tiredness. It was when the desire to change his life led Carlos García Lahoz to the world of art. Painting, sculpture, design, photography, and jewelry making became his main focus and opened new horizons for the aspiring artist.
Carlos García Lahoz started his artistic career in Spain but soon moved his practice on an international level. The fact is that for many years, the artist has been working both in Spain and in Ukraine, binding two different cultures through a variety of media. His multicultural art has not only helped Carlos García Lahoz grow internationally but also allowed him to start a series of important art projects designed to build a cultural bridge between different countries.
Following the idea of the harmonious coexistence of diversified cultures, Carlos García Lahoz has introduced his two new art projects. The first one, “Kingdom of Heaven,” is a series of abstract paintings dedicated to freedom. Inspired by the historical action movie “Kingdom of Heaven” directed by Ridley Scott, this art series is based on respect and freedom for each of us to believe in and worship the Heaven we want. It is all about the harmony between different religions and cultures, which we all need today.
The second art project by Carlos García Lahoz is called “Mudejar XXI.” Created as a tribute to Aragonese Mudejar Art, this series of four sculptures has elements of unique Aragonese Mudejar architecture that has its center in Aragon, Spain. Thus, combining Islamic tradition with Romanesque style, “Mudejar XXI” is Carlos García Lahoz’s gesture of respect between Muslim and Catholic cultures and another important project for the harmonious coexistence between different cultures and religions.
