Freedom House 10th Anniversary Gala to Benefit Human-Trafficking Survivors

Industry: Non Profit & Charity

Foster City, CA (PRUnderground) March 6th, 2019

Freedom House, a leading provider of shelter and direct services to survivors of human trafficking in Northern California, is marking its 10th anniversary with its annual Gala and Charity Auction on Saturday evening, April 6, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Jeff Rosen, District Attorney of Santa Clara County, will receive the 2019 Guardian Award for his department’s work with local survivors of this fast-growing crime.

“Transforming Lives Together” is the Gala theme, as the evening’s festivities will celebrate Freedom House community supporters, volunteers and partners. The Gala also raises vital funds for The Monarch shelter. At The Monarch, Freedom House provides individualized case management, mental-health counseling, educational resources and career-building opportunities during its 18-month aftercare program for trafficking survivors.

The event also serves as an opportunity for newcomers to learn more about the anti-human-trafficking movement and the abolitionists who are fighting modern-day slavery. A survivor-graduate of the Freedom House program will provide her personal testimony, including a powerful look into the dark world of commercial exploitation, how she escaped from it, and how her stay at The Monarch changed her life. Jaida Im, Freedom House founder and executive director, will offer insights into the lives of survivors who have benefited from the transitional housing and wraparound services at the shelter over the past decade.

Gala dinner tickets are $150 per person, $1,300 for a table of 10, and $75 for a student ticket. To encourage non-profit and faith-based organizations to participate in the special 10th anniversary event, Freedom House offers them a discounted table rate of $1,000.
