If you asked many people about rap or hip-hop music they would immediately call it out in its poor subject matter, with top stars often promoting, drugs, gun violence, and gang activity. The good news is there are the few who are dedicated to a more positive and inspiring message. One of the rising leaders in this area is North Atlanta-based rap producer, songwriter, and vocalist, Gerard B., who is also the owner of both Baptiste Studio and independent label Baptiste Media, LLC. The excitement from those who have heard tracks before the release has been incredibly enthusiastic.
“I aimed for a distinct and diverse sound on ‘Anomaly: Songs in G Major’ and I think that mission has been a success,” commented Gerard B. “The music needs to appeal as much as my lyrics and flow, and I think the album covers all this ground and much more.”
A North Atlanta resident, Gerard B. has won the admiration of many for sticking to his commitment to only write, record, and release uplifting rap music, despite any temptations to do otherwise. Pointing this out DJ Rob G. of the Psych Word Radio Show remarked, “If everyone is gravitating towards one sound and that’s what’s popping and selling, It takes courage to stick to your own lane and say, you know what – I am going to follow my own vision.”
“Anomaly: Songs in G Major” will be available across all major online platforms.
The feedback regarding Gerard B.’s past worked has certainly helped built expectations for his latest.
Anthony Barksdale, said in a Indie Nation Blog review, “Gerard B is a recording artist residing from Atlanta Georgia. One of the first things that I noticed while listening to “Truly Blessed” is that Gerard doesn’t sound like the typical Atlanta artist. Usually when I see Atlanta I have a preset generic sound in my head. You will not find that with him. He has a very unique sound comprised of a blend of many different genres of music. I am a huge music fan, I love is a truly authentic sound and artists who are comfortable with who they are. One thing that I really like about Gerard’s music is the implementation of jazz instruments. This gives him his own sound.”
