Latest Technology Leads to More Accurate Diagnoses Saving Dental Patients Both Time and Money
New York, NY (PRUnderground) October 2nd, 2017
Lower Manhattan-based endodontist, Dr. Adam S. Harwood, reported today that the new 3D imaging technology his office employs is preventing unnecessary treatments and expenses for his patients. Using the Carestream 3D extra-oral imaging system on a patient referred to him for root canal work, Dr. Harwood discovered a previously hidden fracture in the patient’s tooth, calling for a tooth implant replacement rather than the prescribed root canal.
“The 3D imaging saved that patient having to go through an unnecessary and costly root canal procedure,” reports Dr. Harwood, who is one of the few Greenwich Village dental professionals using the technology. “3D imaging renders a much clearer and more accurate picture than traditional x-rays can. It’s really the doctor’s, and patient’s, new best friend.”
The advanced dental care system captures highly detailed 3D radiographs providing a full 360-degree view of the tooth or teeth in question. The true-to-life 3D images enable Dr. Harwood to provide quicker and more accurate diagnoses, improved treatment options, and better patient care.
Dr. Harwood himself is no stranger to new technologies. He was the first endodontist in New York to use a surgical operating microscope. Now, with the installation of this 3D imaging system, Dr. Harwood is able to provide his patients with the most accurate diagnoses and treatment strategies possible.
“This industry-leading system is so effective, I have local dentists sending their patients here just for more accurate diagnoses,” Dr. Adam Harwood said. “It saves everyone time – and money – because there’s no longer any guesswork as to what’s really happening below the gum line.”
An additional benefit of capturing digital images is that they’re immediately available for the doctor, the patient, a referring doctor or insurance carrier to review, which means much faster turnaround between diagnosis and treatment.
Offering less radiation exposure than traditional dental x-rays, the system’s open design makes exams more comfortable for patients, with both seated and standing options to accommodate patients of all sizes, even those in wheelchairs.
