While the summer is a time to enjoy the weather and soak up the sun in the pool, it’s important to keep safety in mind — especially if there will be small children around.
The infographic is published on the company’s blog, where you’ll find plenty of pool safety tips, along with information on who is at the most risk and what you can do about it.
Here are some insights from the infographic:
- 77% of all drowning deaths are children under 5 years old
- Children between the ages of 1 – 4 are at the highest risk.
- Drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death in children
- Boys are almost twice as likely as girls to be injured at a pool
These stats are something to pay attention to, but more importantly, there are plenty of ways to prevent injury or drowning in the first place.
- Keep an eye on your children when they’re near a pool.
- Communicate who is responsible for watching the children.
- Enroll your child in swimming lessons.
- If you can’t find your child, check the pool area immediately.
- Install a security fence around your swimming pool.
