Moringa is one of the world’s most useful crops and is a tropical plant with multiple uses for which aptly titled as a’ miracle tree’. India is the largest producer of this nutritionally rich, fast growing, drought tolerant, hardy crop capable of getting adapted to varied ecosystems. It can fit very well as a candidate crop for organic cultivation .It is indigenous to the sub-Himalayan track extending from river Chenab to Sharda. It is grown in arid to humid areas of the tropical region as a human food crop mainly as a vegetable, animal forage crop, medicine, dye and oil yielding crop and for water purification. Among the 13 species known in the family Moringaceae, Moringa oleifera Lam is particularly easy to reproduce and its growth is very fast. The species is characterized by its long, drum stick shaped pods that contain its seeds. Within this species utilizing its fast growing nature and bearing fruits or pods selections have been made to release varieties that can be grown as annual crop.
The numerous economic uses of Moringa oleifera together with its easy propagation have raised growing international interest for this tree which originated from India and which is found in most tropical countries (Africa, Asia and America). Presently its cultivation on large scale is seen in India, Israel, Thailand, South Asian Countries, Africa and Pacific Islands.
There are at least twenty products available for export namely Fresh drumstick fruit, .Drumstick powder, Moringa oil, Moringa seed, Moringa seeds (PKM1and MOMAX3), Moringa leaf powder, Moringa leaf, .Moringa pickle, Moringa tea powder, Moringa fruit powder, Moringa seed kernel, Moringa cake powder, Moringa root, Moringa soup powder, Moringa Juice powder, Moringa flower, Moringa flower powder, Moringa gum, Moringa honey and Moringa capsule. But the Fresh Moringa, Moringa oil, Drumstick powder and Moringa leaf powder are only now exported at present. These Moringa products are rich in vitamin A, Vitamin C, protein, calcium, and potassium.
Moringa Super Oil: Moringa oil is non- drying nutty flavored oil with a pale yellow consistency. It is extensively used in body and hair care as moisturizer and skin conditioner. Its tremendous cosmetic value makes it widely demanding in the national market. The Moringa oil is extracted from the Moringa seed kernels by cold process and is a good source of Behenic acid in nature.
Moringa Organic Tea: The Moringa leaves are processed and available as a ready to serve dip tea. The leaves are processed through stringent quality checks using proprietary so as to preserve the essential nutrients.
Moringa Super Seeds: Moringa seeds are used for raising plantation in Agriculture and Moringa oil for Industrial purposes. Moringa seeds like PMK1 and MOMAX3 are widely used.
