One of our greatest sporting stars, David Beckham, has taken the opportunity to advise new visitors to the country of his top 10 tourist attractions in Great Britain. It has been a busy time for tourism this year and the extra volume of visitors booking up rooms means that it may be more difficult than normal to find accommodation, but the LSE have hostels in London that have all your needs covered.

Beckham’s top 10 refreshingly reflects the aspects of British life led by the average family, rather than a lifestyle more suited to celebrities. For instance, at number two Beckham recommends a visit to his favourite local London pie shop, the family-owned Tony Lane’s Pie and Mash shop, where a good dinner is only £3.50. To keep his kids entertained a visit to Alton Towers or Thorpe Park is great fun, and a visit to London’s West End to see the likes of War Horse is a fantastic cultural evening that the whole family can enjoy.

For shopping he recommends not designer shops but instead bustling street markets, such as Camden, where street food and street haggling come alive. At number one is of course a visit to Buckingham Palace, the quintessential symbol of Great Britain. During the summer you can even go inside the palace and look around the rooms, but unfortunately Beckham’s own home ‘Beckingham Palace’ is off limits for now.

With so much to see and do in London this year, we recommend that you book your accommodation quickly and, if you are searching for cheap hotel accommodation, look no further than the London School of Economics to provide exactly that.
