Los Angeles, CA (PRUnderground) September 19th, 2014

Celebrity Journalist for three decades, Reba Merrill is currently reinventing her relevance to the world of Celebrity and Entertainment News. With the launch of a brand new website she announces that she’s coming out of retirement. Gearing up for many projects, both online and in Hollywood, the 79 year old celebrity expert is up for the challenge of coming back to Entertainment Journalism in full swing. “Reinvention is a process I am very familiar with,” says Merrill.

Merrill is a veteran in the entertainment industry as evidenced by a 30 year working career and an Emmy award win for her work in journalism. More recently she is an accomplished author and speaker telling her story of overcoming gender and age bias in one of the toughest industries in Los Angeles. She has traveled the world interviewing nearly a thousand A-list celebrities and movie stars which have been syndicated in over 60 countries. She has hosted four talk shows: two in Phoenix (“Reba” and “Good Morning Arizona” on ABC) and two in San Diego (“Sunup San Diego” and “That’s Life” on Cox Cable, which garnered her an Emmy Award as well as a Cable Ace Nomination).

Based on the body of her work, Reba was elected to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences in 1993, as well as the British Academy of Film and Television Arts/LA (BAFTA). She has been a working member of SAG/AFTRA since 1969 and currently sits on the leadership council for AIDS Project Los Angeles.

In 2012, Reba chronicled her life as celebrity interviewer in her memoir “Nearly Famous: Secrets, Lies, and Addiction.” Kirkus reviews declared it “An intriguing, honest look at the hidden side of Hollywood. She tells it all with a drive that will leave readers with little doubt about how she became successful…” After writing her book, Merrill felt that overcoming her experiences with hardship, addiction, and a male dominated industry would benefit women who suffer the same struggles. “I want to give back to those who have helped me throughout my career. Women in this industry have been undervalued and may have a difficult time achieving the level of success they deserve. This gives me a chance to open some doors for young women just starting out as well as to offer support for those who have not yet been able to work through these difficult issues.” Says Merrill.

Following the release of her brand new website Reba is now working on digitizing her vault of nearly a thousand rare celebrity interviews. Titled “The Reba Merrill Collection”, these interviews will be featured on The Official Hollywood Walk of Fame App. She has also had multiple bookings for radio shows, podcasts and lectures and is gearing up to launch her own radio show on HealthyLife.net in the next coming months.
