Former Union Minister and President of Janchetna Party, Venod Sharma got arrested on 02/07/14 by the Panchkula police when he was protesting against the malpractices prevailing in the interview process of Government jobs in Haryana. Mr. Sharma along with his supporters were demanding an immediate scrapping of the interview system in the government jobs of Haryana as there are wide ranging complaints alleging favoritism in government jobs in Haryana.
Mr. Sharma along with his supporters was peacefully protesting at the Haryana state selection commission office when he along with his supporters was arrested by sector 2 police, Panchkula.
Venod Sharma’s key demands included the immediate abolishment of Haryana state selection commission and scrapping of the interview system in recruitment of youth in government jobs. Sharma also demanded to bring more transparency in the recruitment process in the SSC commission.
Mr.Sharma termed the Haryana state selection commission as “Simon Commission” of British rule and assured the people of Haryana that his agitation for these demands will carry on until they are accepted. Later in the evening he was released.

Venod Sharma is an Indian politician who has served as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution in the P.V. Narasimha Rao Cabinet (inducted 1995).
