Doctors Express Urgent Care Signs Lease at New Bronx Throgs Neck Shopping Center

Doctors Express, a nationwide chain of urgent care centers, has signed a lease with MD Hutch Plaza Associates to open the second Doctors Express Urgent Care Center in New York, at 843 Hutchinson River Parkway in the Bronx, within the new Throgs Neck Shopping Center.
Anchored by Target, TJ Maxx, Applebees, Petco, Verizon, Five Guys and other major retail giants the location of this urgent care center will be an advantage to the already growing presence of free- standing urgent care centers. Due to open in fall of this year, the Bronx urgent care center is the second Doctors Express to open in New York, and will provide state-of-the-art treatment for acute illness and trauma, including minor surgical procedures.
The 3100 sf Bronx urgent care center will be a walk- in clinic and will employ 12- to 15 staff people, including board certified physicians, licensed x-ray technicians, and medical assistants.
This will be the second Doctors Express urgent care center for Dan and Vicki Purugganan along with partner and Medical Director Dr. Michael Tugetman, who opened their first Doctors Express at 359 Central Ave in Hartsdale NY in 2011. This time, the Purugganan’s, hope to benefit the community by relieving pressure on the often overburdened hospital emergency rooms at Hospitals, and by cutting wait times for medical treatment.
“We treat everything from asthma to allergies, stitches to sinus infections, and broken bones to burns. We offer flu shots, travel immunizations and physicals. We have an on-site laboratory for blood and urine tests, x-ray, and an on-site pharmacy for patient convenience. You could call it a one-stop comprehensive medical center,” said Dan Purugganan
As with their first center, Dr.Tugetman said he is committed to the goal of seeing and treating patients in under an hour. “The goal is to both help unburden the hospital emergency rooms and cut down on wait time by providing an alternate source of care for minor emergencies and illnesses, and to be a valuable medical care choice for Bronx residents who need to be seen at convenient times. We are open 7 days a week- extended hours in the Bronx center will be Mon-Fri 8AM-8PM and weekends from 8AM-8PM, no appointment neccessary. “
