Next month will see the official launch of the Ford Focus 1.0 litre; already many people are wondering just what the advantages and disadvantages will be of having such a small engine in what is traditionally considered a family car.

Firstly, something to consider is that the 1.0 litre is not referring to the output of power that the car puts out, but the capacity of the cylinders within the engine. Meaning that two cars could have the same capacity cyclinders but both give out an entirely different performance.

The Focus has been called Britain’s top selling hatchback for many years, but Ford have decided that it was time to replace the aging 1.6 litre engine, which accounts for between 15-20% of Focus sales already.

Although extremely powerful and much more environmentally friendly than its predecessors, the Focus’s 1.0 litre engine block is no wider than a sheet of A4 paper.

Already many publications have test-driven the vehicle and given wildly ecstatic reviews, with exceptional feedback regarding the vehicles quietness, handling and performance over long distances.

Most of the features that have made the Ford Focus so successful have remained untouched, and in some cases upgraded, such as its interior space and boot space.

So when you visit your Ford car dealership from next month, keep an eye out for the 2012 Ford focus amongst the many other great Ford cars for sale.
