The Bartell Drug Company Implements Bi-directional Immunization Interface with Real Time Data and Consumer Portal to Improve Patient Outcomes

Scottsdale, AZ (PRUnderground) February 9th, 2016

Scientific Technologies Corporation (STC) and The Bartell Drug Company are proud to announce that Bartell Drugs is now the first and only pharmacy in the country to implement the following trifecta of immunization services: Reporting administered vaccines to the state registry, forecasting additional vaccination opportunities at the point of care and offering patients an official Department of Health sealed certificate.

bartell_logo.jpgBy integrating STC’s bi-directional Immunization Interface, ImmsLink™ into Bartell’s workflow, pharmacists can review patient immunization histories and vaccination opportunities in real time and make strong recommendations. STC’s industry-leading vaccine forecaster takes the uncertainty out of advocating for additional shots by confirming for pharmacists when a patient is due for immunizations, thereby enhancing the patient care experience. Since conception of this flu season, Bartell’s Immunization Program has helped protect over 60,000 Seattle area residents from illness by administering a flu vaccine. The program has also enhanced and improved the depth of data in the Washington Department of Health immunization registry so they can see a more accurate picture of the population’s health.

“I think this is a priceless tool to have at our fingertips, especially since pharmacists are becoming the go to source for immunizations to the public. (ImmsLink™) finally gives us the intelligence to make strong recommendations for needed vaccinations”, Christina Ree. Clinical Programs Manager

Bartell Drugs is also breaking ground by empowering patients with secure access to their own official Immunization records via STC’s MyIR™ patient portal. Patients can sign up through any Bartell pharmacist, then go home and have free access to their records online and anytime.

“Bartell Drugs has always been invested in our patients. We believe that by empowering our consumers with access to their immunization records, patients will stay engaged and invest in improving their health, which in turn improves the health of our state.” VP of Pharmacy Operations, Billy Chow

Bartell Drugs is a strong immunization ambassador in their community, and STC is proud to team with a pharmacy whose innovative approach increases efficiency and improves patient care.

About Bartell Drugs

Bartell Drugs and the state of Washington have grown up together since 1890, when a 21-year-old pharmacist from Kansas named George H. Bartell decided to buy the Lake Washington Pharmacy in Seattle’s Central District. Just a few months earlier, Washington had officially become our nation’s 42nd state.

The young Bartell could have only dreamed that someday his little pharmacy would one day become the oldest family-owned drugstore chain in the country, and that his family name would represent one of the Puget Sound’s greatest success stories. Bartell had a short list of priorities when he started his business. He wanted to help his customers stay healthy and to keep them coming back for more by offering a great selection as well as what we have come to call, “Red Vest Service.

A century and a quarter later, George Sr.’s simple philosophy continues to guide our company. Though Bartell Drugs now has more than 60 stores in the Puget Sound region, each location features its own distinct neighborhood vibe. We may be a chain, but we’re local, and always remember that our customers are also our neighbors.

Ever since George Sr. bottled his first tinctures and pills, Bartell Drugs has been a place where cutting-edge technology complements good old-fashioned customer service. From constantly fine-tuning our retail offerings to outfitting our pharmacies with state-of-the-art equipment, we strive to provide our customers with everything they need to stay healthy and coming back for more. We’re pretty sure George Sr. would be proud.
