The Algarve International Gourmet Festival

It is no surprise then that one of the largest and most respected food & drink events in the world is being held in the Algarve, another great reason to visit the region which is already popular anytime of the year.

Portugal’s 6th Annual International Gourmet Festival will be taking place between the 12th and 22nd of January at the Vila Joya in Albufeira-Guia, Algarve. One of the largest goals of the festival is to honour and showcase the regions produce such as its wine, food and much more.

Over twenty top chefs from around the world will be heading to the event to participate, each producing their own menu for visitors to the Gourmet festival to sample. The festival is very unique in this way, as no other food festivals gives patrons the chance to sample Michelin chef’s menus, plus each year different chefs are chosen to participate.

If you enjoy celebrity spotting, you will find that alongside the many Michelin starred chefs there will be plenty of celebrities taking part in the sampling of the wonderful gourmet feasts at hand. Just some of the guests include the Sopranos star Michael Imperioli, The Dark Knight Rises actor Matthew Modine and Mario Cantone of Sex and the city fame.
