Woodside, CA (PRUnderground) September 9th, 2014

Artisan Connect (www.artisanconnect.com), the first online shopping destination featuring curated home decor items made by artisans in developing countries, is proud to announce that it has achieved certification as a B Corporation.  Certified B Corporations are a new type of corporation that uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.  B Corporations, through their social and environmental practices, ensure that their businesses aspire to do no harm and to benefit all.

Artisan Connect was founded to serve a social purpose—to help global artisans thrive,” said Amanda North, Artisan Connect Founder and CEO.  ” Our B Certification offers proof to our customers that Artisan Connect upholds ethical sourcing, fair trade practices and socially sustainable benefits to the people and communities we work with.”

B Corps are certified by the nonprofit B Lab (www.bcorporation.net) to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Today, there is a growing community of more than 1,000 Certified B Corps from 34 countries and over 121 industries working together toward one unifying goal: to redefine success in business.

“Artisan Connect’s mission of connecting small-scale artisan groups in the developing world to consumers who value their beautiful handcrafted products and want to support their livelihood is a great example of the kinds of organizations we seek to uphold,” said Bart Houlahan, co-founder B Lab. “We are excited to welcome Artisan Connect to our thriving community of B Certified corporations.”
