Houston Automotive Shop Ripley’s Muffler and Brakes Adds a Helpful Section to Their Website that Explains the Meanings of Multiple Dashboard Indicator Lights

Houston, TX (PRUnderground) July 21st, 2014

Ripley’s Muffler and Brakes, a long time family-owned business in north Houston has added a new section on their website designed to help demystify dashboard indicator lights.

Since 1973, the Ripley family has been serving north Houston residents with quality and dependable auto car. Founded by Rodney Ripley in 1973, the business is now run by his son Tommy.

“Customers have all sorts of questions about their cars when they bring them in. Unless you’re a trained or at least a hobbyist mechanic, there’s a whole lot more you’re not going to know about your car than what you are going to know,” Tommy shares. “And in a city like Houston,” he continues, “having your own dependable transportation is absolutely necessary for most people.”

Houston is the fourth largest city in the country by population, and it is also in the top 10 metro areas by square miles in the country. Houston is also a city whose public transportation is limited to buses for the most part. However, the Houston area is too large for busses to run to every heavily populated area. Within recent years, the city implemented a light rail system, but that only runs downtown and in close surrounding areas.

For Houstonians, this means their vehicles are extremely important when it comes to moving about the huge sprawling landscape of the city. So when one of those red, yellow, orange or green lights come light up on your car’s dashboard, Houstonians should pay attention. These lights indicate a current or potential problem, and should not be ignored.

More important than the light itself is the color of the light.  Typically, dash board indicator lights use this system:

  •  Red lights indicate a serious problem or safety issue
  •  Yellow  or  orange  lights indicate something that needs to be repaired
  •  Blue or green is an indicator that a system is on or operating normally

Additionally, there are different lights for gasoline, diesel and hybrid engines.

The new dashboard indicator lights page on Ripley’s website provides a great index key for all of the most common indicator lights on all three types of engines. View the page at https://www.ripleysmufflerandbrakes.com/dash-lights-troubleshoot/indicator-lights.htm
