All across the state of Colorado, new breweries are starting up, and popular breweries are expanding their operations, which means more construction jobs and income flowing into the local economy.

In a classic example, the Grossen Bart Brewery in Longmont started its operations from a garage in 2012 and are now moving to a 40-year old former machine shop to build a 10-barrel brew house and tap room with a price tag of about $100,000.  The facility will be be about 3100 feet in size.

Steve Kurowski, the marketing director with the Boulder-based Colorado Brewers Guild says breweries are taking root all over the state.

“There are big brewery projects going on throughout Colorado right now,” says Kurowski, “and an endless number of expansions with breweries of all sizes who may be fitting in another tank or adding a silo or maybe even knocking down a wall to get two units when they just have one.”

Denver-based Breckenridge Brewery is one of the largest in Colorado. Its latest facility, a $35 million project encompassing 8,000 square feet with a brewhouse, restaurant, warehouse, cellar space, two beer gardens and a bike path linking up to a public cycling trail, is  near completion.

Avery Brewing Company out of Boulder has just completed a new facility as well, a 96,000 square foot building costing about $30 million and expected to go open in late February. The new brewery site will include offices, a 249-seat restaurant, tasting room, grain silos, and fermentation tanks.
