Prestigious Golf Trophies specialists Supporting Acclaimed Golfer in European Challenge Tour

Matt Ford is hoping to build on his previous Kenyan Open success and win a golf trophy at the European Challenge Tour.

Golf trophy and engraving specialists, Aford Awards, are sponsoring an acclaimed golfer as he embarks his first challenge tour event of the season. Matt Ford is taking part in the European Challenge Tour 2014 which begins today in Kenya. The tour is teeing off at the Karen Country Club and 156 competitors have been entered into the competition.
The tour features golfers from as many as 26 different countries, with Kenya itself being represented by as many as 22 different professionals. Golfers from Africa, Europe, the Americas and Asia are all taking part in the European Challenge Tour 2014. Matt himself has not won a golf trophy as yet on the challenge tour but those in the know are predicting success for him this time around.
Matt achieved his best position so far on the tour in 2013, and it is hoped that he will capitalise on this success and go even further in 2014. With placing’s of 72, 41 and 20 during 2011, 2012 and 2013 Kenyan Open, Matt has improved with each passing year, leading many to believe that this will be his year.
A tougher challenge than ever before
Changes have been made to the event this year, with a new water feature between holes 12 and 18 making the challenge even tougher. The course will also play a full par of 72 this year as opposed to par 71 of previous events. The Barclays Kenyan Open is seen as the highest-profile golfing event in East Africa.
Matt travelled out to Dubai to prepare himself for the tournament and he is also due to play in the BMW PGA Championship and the Scottish Open later this year. He is also holding his annual golf day at the London Golf Club in April, a venue which has also been chosen for this year’s European Tour.
