PenserSC Wins Award For Growth

The Jacksonville Business Journal announced today that PenserSC has been designated as one of the Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies in the region. The award, which is based on percentage of revenue growth from 2007-2009, recognizes the 25.66% growth PenserSC has attained over the period.

PenserSC’s humble beginnings trace back to 1908, when Augustus O’Dell, SR., started working with Peninsular Warehouse Company in the downtown area. He officially acquired the company in 1912. The company expanded into transportation services in 1966, mainly focusing on the Florida marketplace. Today, PenserSC is one of the southeast region’s leading logistics companies providing warehousing and transportation, as well as knowledgeable consultation for customized services, storage and distribution. The primary areas of focus are the pharmaceutical, food, industrial, retail, health and beauty and paper industries.

Russell O’Dell, current chief operating officer, represents fourth-generation of family ownership in the growing company. O’Dell imagines his great-grandfather would be “extremely proud” of what the company has become.

“I hope that he would be proud to know he planted the seeds that helped several generations…not just his own family. Through the years, we’ve been blessed to put many people to work and a lot of food on the table,” O’Dell said.

In the course of the last three years, the company has made significant changes to its business model. Many of the changes were brought about by current CEO, Shawn Barnett.

“When I came on board, in March 2007, PenserSC was predominately a public warehouse company with a transportation division. We have worked tirelessly to improve our service offerings and become the complete 3PL we are today,” said Shawn Barnett, CEO, PenserSC.

“This award solidifies the fact that we are one of the fastest growing logistics companies in the region,” Barnett said. “We have certainly increased our business over the last two years and expect to continue to increase our logistics capacity.”

Overall, PenserSC was the 25th fastest growing company and the only 3PL in the area to make the list.
