OEwaves is in the Top 20 of IEEE’s Semiconductor Manufacturing Patent Power Ranking
IEEE selects OEwaves as one of the top 20 companies in the world for its Patent Power in the Semiconductor Manufacturing industry.
Pasadena, California (PRUnderground) January 6th, 2014
OEwaves Inc., a leader in innovative microwave photonic products and solutions, announced that it has been ranked among the top 20 in the world on the 2013 Semiconductor Manufacturing Patent Power Ranking by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
The ranking is based on a “Patent Power Scorecard,” a quantitative benchmarking of patent portfolios of more than 5,000 leading commercial enterprises, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies worldwide. This benchmarking, conducted by 1790 Analytics, takes into account the size and the quality of those portfolios, such as growth and impact, originality, and general applicability.
“We are proud to be in the same company of such patent power houses as Intel, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and others,” said Lute Maleki, CEO of OEwaves. “OEwaves is committed to creating cutting-edge technologies to better serve our customers.”
OEwaves was founded in 2000 by scientists from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) after recognizing the existence of a critical technology gap in the oscillator, filter, and innovative receiver markets and the tremendous potential to impact a wide range of radar and communications applications with its core technologies, the whispering gallery-mode (WGM) optical resonator and the opto-electronic oscillator (OEO). Currently the company holds over 80 patents and pending patents in its core technologies and related areas, 24 of which are exclusively licensed through California Institute of Technology.
