John Cook is a retired educator. He has worked for California State Hospital and as a Special Education Teacher in the California State Prison System. He has also worked as a firefighter and a lifeguard. He is a graduate of the UCLA (Berkeley) Graduate Program for Creative Writing where he was nominated for the Kirkwood Prize.
