News From Enlightened Lights: Patio Lighting in Arlington Virginia

We just completed a project with Grigg Design in Arlington, Virginia. This was a simple lighting project that consisted of a couple of up lights on a few trees, five path lights on the steps leading from the front yard to the back, and our new patio light.

I recently redesigned this fixture for Sterling Lighting improving an already industry leading design. The main thought process in designing this light is to make a light fixture that virtually disappears during the day. We used premium grade virgin brass for the fixture. Most of the time, this light is built into a stone patio. Concrete used in the mortar will react adversely with the aluminum causing the coating or color to peel off of an aluminum fixture.
The led design is truly cutting edge. We are using Cree’s newest led chip with our own custom made driver. We actually test this fixture underwater to ensure water will never be an issue. The positioning of the led is set in a way to provide optimal light output without any glare.

In this application the antiqued brass LED blends in beautifully with the wood wall. The backside or dark side of the patio is now perfectly lit to make our customer’s patio a perfect entertaining place. They now just have to wait for the weather to warm up a little.
