New Skincare Line – Love Your Face – Brings An Ancient Healing Herb Back Into The Mainstream

New skincare company, Love Your Face, is the first company to create an entire line of products using the ancient herb plantain—a powerful, low-growing plant once popularized by noteworthy individuals such as Shakespeare, Chaucer, King Henry VIII, and Alexander the Great. Love Your Face is currently launching via Kickstarter.com until December 12 and quickly building momentum to fund its new collection of five all-natural products using plantain.

Even though plantain (not to be confused with the banana-like plant) is common enough to be growing in your backyard right now, its skin-rejuvenating properties have been largely forgotten over the last century due to competition from manmade skincare products. Love Your Face plans to bring this “miracle” herb back into the mainstream.

Co-founder Kate Mason says, “We chose plantain as the active ingredient in our products because it’s time tested—it’s been used for thousands of years to sooth and heal skin in almost every major culture. Not only is it anti-inflammatory and anti-toxic, it’s also full of healthy vitamins and minerals that help make your skin glow.”

Katie “Wellness Mama”, founder of the popular blog, WellnessMama.com, writes, “Plantain is one herb that I literally would not be without.” Lorraine Dallmeier, a Botanical Skincare Scientist and founder of the UK blog Herb & Hedgerow, writes, “This herb is a little gem and has some great skincare properties. You rarely see it featured in cosmetic products, but it is certainly one to use if you can get ahold of it!”

In one week, with no advertising, Love Your Face’s Kickstarter campaign gained more than 100 backers, showing that there is a definite demand for high-quality, natural skincare. The fact that Kickstarter is mostly a male-trafficked platform (72% men, 28% women according to Quantcast.com) didn’t seem to phase the two founders, either. “We think Kickstarter is the perfect platform for us to launch our new company because it creates a fun and exciting event that our new fans can rally around,” says co-founder Laurel Staples.

Love Your Face is an all-natural skincare line and social enterprise co-founded by Laurel Staples and Kate Mason, launching on Kickstarter now through December 12, 2014. Every year, the company plans to give a percentage of profits to help other women launch entrepreneurial and community-based projects.
